Explain the theories of career development – How do they change over time
The basic purpose of a theory of career development is to guide on the right career choices according to the present and the time of the race also should be fine for several years in the future. Change is the only constant, as popularly said. The world is always changing, so is the nature of business and career options available. A theory of career development also must evolve accordingly.
A theory of career development helps people in understanding themselves and their aspirations, as well as Desired qualifications and career to find the right mix. It is well known that in American society, one race more or less defines a person and is the identity of the person. Therefore, it is important to keep the learning process even when one is well in the race, so that growth can continue. People to attend seminars and courses on a regular basis or take up an apprenticeship or internship are more in touch with career advancement.
Just as business houses recognize the importance of further enhancing their skills, similar to a person also must continually update. Slowdown in the development career in this fast-paced world is not an option.
There was a theory of career development deal with different stages of life, viz. adolescence, preteen to teens and young adults. As a child or adolescent, a person has the whole world ahead. Therefore, considered several options, but nothing is really concrete. At this stage, a person may want to be a pilot, an engineer, an artist or dancer, or at all. None of these can lead to a career later.
According to this theory, career development, from preteen to teens, an individual more clear about what they do in the future. Also get clarity about the activities they enjoy and the areas they excel in. At this stage, the person in the example above can only have passing interest in creative activities and could be totally focused on becoming a pilot. This person may now be the study of math and science seriously, while also taking classes for animal health side. You can also initiate the investigation of the classes you need to pursue a career in one of these fields. By applying theory of career development for this person, we can see that it has started firming up its plans for the future.
The theory of career development also takes into account individual preferences and likes dislikes, and that these ultimately lead to career choices. In the example above, the youth may decide who likes animals and may decide to become a veterinarian, rather than a pilot. Then, you have to study beyond high school, clear the relevant training courses and also with a professional before going to work itself.
Other career development theories may shed light on professional development for the poor, minority people, women and so on, as there is a theory of career development for every need and level wealth, race or gender to provide a means of understanding the career choices of different individuals.
