Mel Gibson's "Apocalypto" – Ugly as sin

Mel Gibson is a madman. That's what I like about him. He is consumed by a vision of God or religion or a mixture of both.

First Gibson shocked audiences with the gruesome reality of the crucifixion of Christ in The Passion of Christ. Now, Apocalypto, Gibson illustrates the ugliness of sin.

Mel Gibson used their access to dominant culture to challenge conventional thinking. Where public schools teach about evil Europeans invading the innocent, peace-loving Native Americans, Gibson portrays the Catholic explorers as the protectors of the innocent. The point is that neither side is completely innocent. In any case, I appreciate efforts Gibson to shed some positive light on the Catholic Church (not that I am an advocate of Catholicism).

The central scene plays toward the end of the film when the main protagonist, Jaguar Paw (Rudy Youngblood) stumbles on the beach with the last part of the energy, ready to resign and die at the hands of their persecutors, bloodthirsty. This beach resting place would have been the final Jaguar Paw had no strange floating full of heavily dress floated near the shore. The man in front held a long staff surmounted with a crucifix. The show surprised jaguar paw and his pursuers, until point they were frozen in their tracks. Thus, the Catholic explorers saved Jaguar Paw. One point for the Catholic Church even before a foot on American soil!

The main theme of "Apocalypto" is the evil of mankind. Evil does not exist because religious scholars saw fit to define it, evil exists because men are inherently evil. The sin was not invented by Christians, but is common to all men. All men have inherited sin, no matter what continent people live, no matter how many years have lived in the affected continent by Europeans.

The axis of evil in Apocalypto is the Mayan empire. From the exterior of this former appears superior to the civilization of the inhabitants of the jungle. Maya society seems more advanced and richer than their counterparts living in the jungle. But the Maya facade Luxury veils only rot their hearts and minds. The Mayan show their true colors, forcing thousands to slavery, many of those used for sacrifices humans to their gods.

The Bible mentions the blood of Abel crying out from the land of justice. So too with the Maya of the blood of countless innocent victims cried out to God for justice. This is prophetic to the Americans in regard to abortion. God will not allow the shedding of innocent blood forever. Over time way to a balanced, even if it means destroying everything we hold dear.

God will not last forever evil. Sets with human strongholds for a while, but inevitably people forget themselves and become overly rebellious. History reveals a cycle of increase in men because God allowed them to climb up to go too far with his perversions, time in which God is allowed to self-destruct or Put an outside force to stop them.

Gibson made a point of showing the spirituality of the Maya. They were actively giving their minds about their sun god, or gods who were dancing and singing to. This shows that bad people can be spiritually aware, however, can not distinguish right from wrong because their minds are too full of calluses.
